2025
For LaborBerlin’s first collaboration with the Youth Resistance Museum situated in the Galiläakirche, a former church in the iconic Rigaer Straße, we present a programme of films, installations and performances in dialogue with the organic materiality of film, the thin line between the human and non-human, as well as the cultural spaces that are activated by collective gestures of resistance.
The program also features the presentation of a prototype of our latest engineering achievement, a State-of-the-Art 16mm Projector, which is packed with modern technology and never before seen technical features and effects. Also, we will engage with the venue and the neighborhood, we will show films from the 1990’s Rigaer Str. squatting era and invite for an open panel discussion on building and sustaining collectives in times of gentrification and digital fragmentation
LaborBerlin is a collectively organised film laboratory in Berlin, open to everyone interested in working with photochemical film with an experimental and DIY approach. Our members conduct regular workshops, film screenings and exhibitions, and act as a platform for exchange of ideas and experiences around the practice and spirit of analogue filmmaking.
Zelluloid Resistance is presented in collaboration with SPECTRAL, a four-year collaboration between six artist-run film labs: LaborBerlin, Mire, Baltic Analog Lab, Filmwerkplaats, Crater-Lab, and LAIA. SPECTRAL stands for Spatial, Performative & Expanded Cinematics – Transnational Research at Artist-run Labs, and facilitates projects of a DIY nature with a focus on expanded cinema.

Reel Solidarities: On Building and Sustaining Collectives
What does it mean to work within a collective? How do artists and filmmakers find resources, secure spaces, and create niches of their own? This informal panel brings together members of LaborBerlin, the Art Colлекtiv, and others (tba) to reflect on the challenges and possibilities of collective practice. It will be an open discussion, inviting different perspectives on collaboration, sustainability, and resistance.
